The Aeronautical Engineering Department (AE) was established in 2009. It is the newest department of the great Faculty of Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology. The AE department is the first in Jordan and one of the few programs in the region that offers a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

The Aeronautical Engineering Program aims to prepare engineers for success and leadership in their future career paths and to enhance their understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. For that purpose, the AE department has established a modern multidisciplinary experimental laboratory, a computer aid design laboratory, and an open-access computer laboratory. In addition, the AE program offers a solid curriculum that furnishes students with the basic sciences in mathematics, physics, and chemistry and provides fundamental knowledge in aerodynamics, materials, propulsion, structures, stability and control, and aircraft performance and design. The program also benefits from the strong connections with the major aviation industries in Jordan and the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The Aeronautical Engineering Program has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET of the United States of America.
