We looking for excellent candidates who are keen to develop new antenna arrays and metasurfaces for communication systems for satellites. 
Space communications is a rapidly growing area and there are constant challenges to keep improve the gain and bandwidth while reducing the size and weight. 
Loughborough has extensive radiofrequency facilities. This includes an anechoic chamber for antenna measurements, and a semi-anechoic chamber for metasurfaces.
Note, this PhD opportunity does not have funding. Applicants are required to bring their own funding (personal or from own government or Commonwealth Scholarships) to cover both fees and living expenses.
