The Master's Degree in Information Science (MCI) provides advanced training in Information Science aimed at anyone wishing to pursue a professional or research career in this area. This master is the joint responsibility of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. MCI graduates are information managers. They are prepared for positions in existing information services (in libraries, archives, and documentation services), to integrate teams developing information systems, to conceive new information services (dematerialization, document management, process workflows, collaboration systems, social networks) and ultimately to become Chief Information Officer (CIO) in private and public organizations.

Admission Requirements
To apply to U.Porto's 2nd cycle courses (Master’s degree courses), you must meet the following conditions: hold a Bachelor's degree or a legal equivalent in the fields specified by the school/faculty; hold a foreign higher education academic degree which is in compliance with the Bologna process or recognised by U.Porto as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor's degree; AND have an academic or professional career recognised by the University, which proves the applicant’s capability to enter the study cycle.
