The PhD in "Philology and Literary Criticism" is dedicated to the study of the European literary tradition, also in a comparative perspective. It is organized in three curricula:

  • curriculum 1 "Medieval Philology" is aimed at the study of the literary tradition of the Middle Ages, with particular consideration for the philological and linguistic aspects and methods, also with the support of information technologies;
  • curriculum 2 "Modern Literature" promotes the study of individual national traditions (in particular Italian, English and Anglo-American, French, German and Spanish) and the theoretical-comparative approach to literary movements, genres and themes, and to cultural reflection;
  • curriculum 3 "Anthropology of the ancient world" aims to specifically highlight the set of patterns which, historically, have been decisive in the construction of the Greek and Roman culture.
