​The Department of English Language and Translation at the Applied Science Private University is the first academic department in private universities to offer two undergraduate specializations: English Language and Literature, and English Language/Translation. Recently, a new specialization, Applied English, has been introduced, enhancing the department's academic outcomes. The department is staffed by qualified faculty members covering all specializations. Established in 1991 as part of the Department of Languages, it became an independent department in 1993 and received specialized accreditation in 1994. The department is equipped with two modern language laboratories: one for teaching simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, and the other for phonetics and various language skills, including grammar and reading. The majority of the department’s students are Jordanians, along with a notable number of Arab students attracted by the ASU’s and department’s strong reputation. Graduates from the Department of English Language and Translation are highly sought after in the job market due to their proficiency and skills.
