In L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University together with the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan a unique system of training specialists in the field of nuclear physics and nuclear technologies is organized. The International Department of Nuclear Physics, New Materials and Technologies (IDNPNMaT) was established in ENU together with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, Russia) and the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP as a part of NNC RK, Almaty, Kazakhstan). The department was established on the basis of the Memorandum of June 1, 2007 "On the Establishment of an International Educational Consortium" and the joint order of the ENU, JINR and INP "On the Establishment of the International Department of Nuclear Physics, New Materials and Technologies" dated July 9, 2008 and operates on the basis of the order of July 9, 2008.


The purpose of the Department is to jointly train specialists in the field of nuclear physics and new nano- and radiation technologies using the capabilities of the Heavy Ion Accelerator DC-60 and ENU Engineering Laboratory, as well as to conduct scientific research in these areas with JINR and INP.


The International Department of Nuclear Physics, New Materials and Technologies has a modern research base in the field of nuclear physics and new materials and conducts training in the following areas:


  • 6B05305 – bachelor program on specialty «Nuclear Physics»;
  • 7M05305 – master program on specialty «Nuclear Physics»;
  • 7M07140 – master program on specialty «Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies»;
  • 7M05308 – master program on specialty «Medical Physics»;
  • 8D05305 – PhD program on specialty «Nuclear Physics»;
  • 8D07140 – PhD program on specialty «Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies».
