The MSc in Economics, with tracks in Applied Economics (AE), Econometrics and Quantitative Economics (EQ), is a programme offering in-depth study of economics and economic data analysis. It features a strong core programme that includes an entry path for students without prior training in economics, a track system that allows you to opt for a more practice-oriented, more data-analytic, or a more theoretical focus, and an open category that allows you to take modules outside your track, or from our MSc in Financial Economics programme, so you can create a fulfilling programme suited to your needs. The MSc in Economics is available for part-time or full-time study. The Applied Economics track is available for full-time study over one-year, or part-time study over two years. Classes for the Applied Economics track are held in the evenings or on Saturday morning. The Econometrics and Quantitative Economics tracks is intended for full-time study over one year, although it is also available for part-time study by students who are able to attend weekday daytime classes. Please note that part-time study is available only to Singapore-based students (citizens, permanent residents, and those holding valid employment passes). We seek students with a keen sense of purpose and curiosity about economics. While the programme offers those with economics undergraduate degrees an opportunity for in-depth study in economics, the programme is also available for those without prior economics training. An Applied Economics track student could be a working professional who makes or will be making critical and strategic decisions in his/her company or public sector agency, who could benefit tremendously from a good understanding of the market and the economy. An Econometrics and Quantitative Economics track student could be someone who wishes to learn more about data analysis with a special focus on economic, financial and social data. These may be students who wish to pursue careers involving technical economics research, or further graduate study in Economics.
