The master's degree is an economics-oriented degree that offers students a modern education in the overlapping area of modern economics, here in particular modern development economics and environmental economics and business administration, here in particular international management. These areas typically have a special relationship to resource-related industries. The taught modules are designed in such a way that the students are able to develop a detailed and critical understanding of the peculiarities, limitations, terminologies, and doctrines in this overlapping area, with a special understanding of the sensitivity to the peculiarities of managements between Eastern, Southeastern, and Western Europe and for Asian emerging countries and an understanding of the implications of economic activity and management decisions on ecology and the natural environment.

Students acquire skills to deal with new and so far unfamiliar complex tasks and problems in the areas of management of international companies, in administrations and international organizations. Using the theoretical framework they have acquired, they can develop new ideas and processes, apply them and evaluate them taking into account different scientific assessment standards. In this way, they can develop strategic solutions even with incomplete information and learn how to balance them against each other in scenarios. This way, graduates are enabled to independently control processes in the strategy-oriented professional field of international management. Especially in these fields of activity, the requirement structure is characterized by frequent and unforeseeable changes.

The interactive character of the courses aims to develop the students' personal communication and cooperation skills in fields decisive for professional development. In a leadership position in management, students can involve those tasks in a goal-oriented manner, taking into account the respective group situation, deal with conflicts constructively and define expected social, economic and cultural effects and involve them in the decision-making process.
