Develop the skills needed to contribute to research within the broad spectrum of cardiovascular medicine. The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences has groups engaged in world-leading discovery science, translational and clinical research.
By studying in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences you'll be joining around 50 postgraduate research students covering a wide range of topics including:
  • Chronic cardiovascular diseases, including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, hypertension, and related conditions, with a focus on precision medicine.
  • Platelet-related disorders, from basic cell biology to novel anti-thrombotic treatments.
  • Thrombo-inflammation, exploring immune and endothelial cell interactions, atherosclerosis, and immune therapies.
  • Advanced microscopy techniques for studying receptor signalling, heart microvasculature, and thermoacoustic/photoacoustic imaging of diseases like atherosclerosis.
