Sport is one of the most significant aspects of our lives: from participating ourselves, to the joy of seeing your team win. Behind everything is sports and exercise science. Using systematic and evidence-based support, the study of this field not only enhances athletic performance at the elite level, but also promotes physical and mental well-being, contributes to advancements in health care and rehabilitation, and ultimately develops our understanding of human potential through the exploration of the function of the body and how it may be manipulated to operate at its optimum. As a student, we equip and prepare you for professional careers in sports science, exercise science, research and teaching - and even for careers that have no sports and exercise element but require high-level graduate analytic, critical, and communication skills. Graduates from our program work as sports scientists in many sports, from football clubs in the English Premier League to ballet, as researchers and lecturers in universities and colleges, in businesses that manufacture sports equipment and support athletes, in health services, in education, in recreational sport and health activities and many more sectors, in Scotland, the UK, and abroad.
