Materials research has the great opportunity in solving grand societal problems and finding new discoveries in the fields of energy, food, water, safety, health and well-being, environment, sustainable use of resources and urbanisation. New fascinating materials with unexpected properties, tailored for the needs of our society, can change the way we live our everyday life.

Materials research is the richest and most multidisciplinary field in natural sciences. The Master’s Programme in Materials Research is based on physics, chemistry, biology and medical sciences, mathematics and computer science, all taught in a cohesive, and self-contained way. You will study for example biomaterials, nanomaterials, smart materials, polymers, composites, electronics, energy generation and storage as well as green and sustainable materials.

This programme has the following six study lines representing different branches of materials research: 1) experimental materials physics 2) computational materials physics 3) medical physics 4) polymer materials chemistry 5) inorganic materials chemistry 6) electronics and industrial applications.
