Computer and Information Technology Engineering: An Overview
Today, computer literacy has become a necessity in developed and underdeveloped countries. Urmia University of Technology (UUT) is one of the active universities in the region and the country, with about two decades of expertise in providing computer engineering and information technology courses.
The Computer Engineering and Information Technology Department began operating as an independent department in 2006, simultaneously with the establishment of the institution. It started accepting students in the undergraduate program in two majors: software and information technology. The Computer and Information Technology Department, with its young and experienced professors, has been able to train exceptionally successful students in numerous specialized disciplines.
There is a highly energetic and friendly attitude among computer engineering students at Urmia University of Technology. Students have a healthy competition with each other in addition to teamwork. The good activity of students in the scientific society has contributed to many succeeds in national and international competitions, scientific Olympiads, and specialized meetings.
The Computer Engineering and Information Technology Department now accepts students in two master's degrees, in addition to the undergraduate software major: Information Technology Engineering - Network Systems and Information Technology Engineering - Management Information Systems. Master's students work in different specialist disciplines such as security, data mining, machine learning, information technology management, and many other specialized professions.
The Computer Engineering and Information Technology Department, by updating its curricula and laboratories, has always endeavored to educate students based on new concepts and technologies and in line with the needs of the country and society. Today, we witness the employment and activity of graduates of the Computer Engineering and Information Technology Department of Urmia University of Technology in major administrative, industrial, and technological positions.

Admission Requirements
For national candidates admission to a major in our university is based upon the performance of them in the Iranian University Entrance Exam (Konkoor/Concours) – it is the Standard means of entry to universities in Iran. Candidates must have previously taken this exam and have achieved the minimum passing score required to study in this major at Urmia University of Technology.
International candidates for Bachelor's degree studies must have a minimum grade point average of 60 on a 100 scale in their high school diploma in their home country.
