This research-intensive programme develops advanced skills, education and training in the areas of artificial intelligence research, including pattern recognition, computer vision, machine intelligence, and intelligent systems. With a strong emphasis on hands-on experience and practical skills development, you will gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of topics such as advanced pattern recognition, deep learning in computer vision, image and video processing, and reinforcement learning. After successfully completing all taught modules, students are required to carry out a one-year-long research project. Graduates from this programme will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to go on to doctoral training or professional practice in research & development engineering companies such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Baidu, Alibaba or Tencent.

Bachelor Degree (UK2:1 or equivalent) in a related subject (such as digital media technology, electrical engineering, computer science and technology, mechatronics and robotic systems) from an accepted University or other Institute of Higher Education. Alternative qualifications and all non-UK qualifications which are equivalent to a UK science- or engineering-based honours degree may also be considered. In some cases, a good UK 2.2 honours degree may be considered if strong performance in relevant subjects is demonstrated or the applicant has relevant industrial experience. Applicants who have degree qualifications that are considered to be standard below a UK 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent may be admitted if they hold an appropriate engineering qualification together with industrial experience.
