The goal of the graduate program in clinical psychology is the education of clinical psychologists with a firm grounding in research, theory, and practice. We are a clinical science program, which means that we prepare students to make substantive contributions to the understanding of the assessment, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of psychopathology. We also prepare them to become competent clinicians who know how to make use of the available evidence and contribute to the training of future psychologists. Objectives: Prepare psychologists with a broad base of knowledge of psychology and more specific knowledge of clinical psychology able to disseminate this knowledge through teaching, training or other activities in which scientific thinking and research skills are needed; Prepare psychologists to design, implement and disseminate results from scientific research; Prepare psychologists who are competent in diagnosis and assessment with sensitivity to relevant issues in assessing diverse populations; Prepare psychologists who are competent to provide psychoeducation, psychotherapy as well as evidence-based interventions and have the ability to identify and modify those as needed to serve diverse populations in a respectful, ethical manner.
