The Department of Software Engineering at NUST-SEECS, offers a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering (BESE) program. The program was started in 2010. It is a four years program with a total of 133+X credit hours requirement for the award of degree. The curriculum of  BESE program has been designed according to the guidelines specified by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The curriculum includes the courses in the domain of engineering foundation, computing core, software engineering core, the electives and supporting sciences. PEC conducted the zero visit for accreditation of BESE program on 29th Sep 2010 and permission was granted to launch the program on 11 th February 2011.

The objective of the BESE program is to develop Software Engineering (SE) graduates having a concrete knowledge-base of SE discipline through a strong focus on teaching excellence and develop their analytical and problem solving skills through a strong focus on fostering research, innovation and entrepreneurship. The BESE program provides its students the ability to relate theory to practice by offering plentiful lab experiments and course projects. Students are offered opportunities to work on real life projects through internship training with industries that develop the ability to use their knowledge and skills for providing solutions to software engineering related problems by effective and efficient utilization of resources. The curriculum of the BESE program has been designed such that it educates students in applying systematic approach in developing problem-solving methodology.

The teaching methodology has been devised for the development of creative and critical thinking in students. Because of the global profile of the faculty at the Department of Software Engineering, students are offered opportunities that help the BESE program in getting international reputation. These opportunities include but are not limited to students being invited at foreign universities for academic research and participation in the applied research.

BESE Program admissions are advertised on both print and electronic media. The program intake is admitted in Fall semester, annually. The program aspirants are required to take NUST Entrance Test/ SAT (International) to qualify for the limited positions
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in SSC and HSSC OR equivalent exams (as per IBCC equivalence). - Pre-Engineering Group/Computer Science Group/ Pre-Medical Group/ Humanities Group with Mathematics as one of the mandatory subject
Mathematics: 40% Physics: 25% Computer Science/Chemistry: 20% English: 10% Intelligence: 05%
Pre-medical students are provisionally admitted to the BESE program provided the students pass 2 Mathematics deficiency courses within one year of their studies
A student shall pay 25% of the semester tuition fee for Deferment / Suspension of semester. In case of 1st semester deferment, 100% tuition fee will be charged
