We educate and inspire our students through a community of working professionals - interior designers and aligned professions - to foster cultural and social change in the world by encouraging discovery, experimentation, and the implementation of innovative concepts that challenge convention and create well-being in our built environment.

From your first day at SVA, unlike most other programs, you’ll work at your own desk with unlimited access to state-of-the-art computers in a design-firm atmosphere 24/7. You’ll learn to integrate current technology with the traditions of drawing and drafting. You’ll become proficient in the specialized language used by today’s preeminent design firms. And most importantly, you’ll learn what it takes to turn an innovative design idea into a real space and create spaces that change human behavior for the better and make healthful environments.

At SVA, a student will be prepared to enter the workplace as a creative and highly competent designer in the realm of the interior built environment, which includes residential, commercial, institutional, healthcare, hospitality and corporate design among other valuable design areas that reinforce the interior experience such as furniture, lighting and products design (light fixtures, rug designs, fabric designs, and more) and connected fields such as set-design, interior architectural photography, sustainability, and digital rendering. Our philosophy about teaching is very HANDS ON, with a wet and dry textile lab, lighting lab, materials lab, 3D printing lab, chair-stool lab, computer lab, and a state-of-the-art fabrication lab.
