The program is designed to meet local, regional, and global legal advancements and aligns with the Sultanate’s future vision, 'Oman 2040,' to prepare skilled legal cadres for the future. This program has been specifically designed for Sohar University.
The Faculty of Law, which already offers a Bachelor's program in Law and a Master's program in Public Law, is proud to introduce the Doctor of Philosophy in Law program. This program aims to:
  • Expand legal and intellectual knowledge while enhancing the ability to interpret complex legal concepts.
  • Foster in-depth and comprehensive expertise in specialized legal fields.
  • Prepare highly qualified legal professionals to conduct original and rigorous scientific research with professionalism and precision.

Admission Requirements

Applicants seeking admission to the PhD in Law program at Sohar University must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Public Law, Private Law, or any other branch of law from an institution recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or its equivalent at graduation, based on Sohar University’s grading standards.
  • Successfully pass a personal interview in accordance with the university's approved criteria.
  • Submit a research proposal in their field of specialization.
