Agriculture is the back bone of Indian Economy with about 50 percent population engaged in agriculture and allied activities. India ranks second worldwide in farm output. Agriculture and allied sectors like forestry and fishing which accounts for about 18 percent of the GDP continues to be the mainstay of the Indian economy. This change has posed several opportunities for agribusiness management professionals.
Agribusiness is not only limited to production rather it is much broad term covering various aspects of production including input, post-harvest operations, support services and taking the produce to the market. Agriculture has long been seen as a sector with tremendous potential in India. In the last few years, the sector has seen an unprecedented gain with several government and private sector initiatives.
