This Combined Bachelor's and Master's (CBM) is a four-year accelerated program for those with an ATAR of 90 or above. Over the first three years you’ll complete an extended major in Biochemistry of Nutrition, and some units from the Master of Biomedical Science. You can then choose to exit after three years with an Advanced Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Sciences, or continue with the Master of Biomedical Science and be awarded a Bachelor of Molecular Sciences and a Master of Biomedical Science at the end of the four years.

By completing this Combined Bachelor's and Master's course you will graduate with both a Bachelor of Molecular Sciences and a Master of Biomedical Science.

In your first three years, you will complete the Biochemistry of Nutrition Extended Major where you will gain an appreciation of the clinical relevance of nutritional biochemistry and the influence of dietary modification and nutritional intervention on physiology and physiological dysfunction. During this time you will also complete a semester of postgraduate study.

You will then complete a final year of postgraduate study in the Master of Biomedical Science, Food Biochemistry specialisation. You will pursue advanced studies with emphasis placed on cutting-edge research and its translation to healthy living and to clinical settings of diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Food Biochemistry specialisation involves an extended application of biochemical knowledge of the various nutrients, food constituents and their function to the study of health and nutrition. This specialisation focuses on the integration of knowledge and concepts of nutritional biochemistry and its application to the food and health industry.

If you decide not to continue in the CBM you can exit after three years with a Bachelor of Molecular Sciences (Advanced). Note that the Advanced Bachelor Degree is available only as a CBM exit award. It is not offered for direct enrolment and is not awarded on completion of the CBM.
