The Master of International Development engages you with the contemporary challenges of addressing poverty and inequality globally through an emphasis on empirical evidence, real-world case studies, and debates. You will develop the knowledge and skills to approach practical and policy challenges in a wide range of contexts by drawing on expertise from development geographers, political scientists, resource economists and development practitioners.

You'll undertake a combination of units (core and option), covering diverse topics from development economics to environmental sciences, food and agriculture, governance and non-government organisations (NGOs), public health, and law and policy.

A key component of the Master of International Development focuses on regional development in Western Australia, introducing you to the development challenges faced by Australia, including its remote Indigenous communities.

The Master of International Development can be taken either as a 'Coursework only', or a 'Coursework and Dissertation', degree. If you choose the Dissertation you'll work with one of UWA's world-leading experts to research a specialist subject of their choosing.
