Social sciences give you a broad insight into the various areas and issues of the social sciences. You learn about society's organization and development in a Danish and international context, just as you also gain social science competencies within socio-economic, sociological, political science and internationally oriented subjects and problem areas. In the education, you thus gain a solid knowledge of the democratic and modern society as well as the economic and international currents that have influenced it. Likewise, the education will enable you to apply key concepts, theories and methods for understanding and analyzing specific societal issues.
Social studies must be combined with another subject and can be read as part of a high school teacher education, where Social studies is combined with another subject from the upper secondary school's subject series. Social studies can either be read as a central subject (main subject) or a side subject. A side subject is the second subject in which you will have teaching competence after graduation, but you will not have the same amount of teaching in your side subject as you have in your central subject. As your side subject, you can choose between many different subjects - eg Danish, history, psychology, sports.
