Regenerative medicine is about replacing, engineering or regenerating human cells, tissues or organs to restore or establish normal function. This can be achieved by stimulating the body's own repair mechanisms or, when the body cannot heal itself, by implanting new tissues and organs grown in the laboratory. This rapidly emerging, multidisciplinary field will have a significant impact on current and future health care.

Developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of Utrecht University, the special master’s track Regenerative Medicine and Technology (RMT) aims to educate the next generation of scientists and engineers. It combines the expertise of both universities, and includes courses on molecular cell biology, biomaterials, computational modelling, bioreactor technology and translational research.

The program comprises a mixture of courses, an (international) internship and an in-depth research project. Students will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories at both universities. The program trains multidisciplinary researchers to innovate at the intersection of biomedical science, technology, and clinical applications.

Want to get to grips with the fundamental challenges of regenerative medicine? Then you might prefer our related track ‘Regenerative Engineering and Materials’ which focuses more on developing solutions in the laboratory.
