Data nowadays is omnipresent in every aspect of life. We leave data traces as a result of our many everyday activities including traveling – smart card data, mobile phone data and social media data, to name but a few. Reflecting the collective impact of human behavior, real-time urban data such as emission, traffic and noise areis readily available in many parts of the world. It is however a waste of resources to keep expanding the scale of this data without a clear understanding of the benefits the data offers, and the way in which it can be implemented to plan and manage our cities more effectively. That is why we need to train a new generation of data scientists in the drive towards a more sustainable future. Key characteristics in the years and decades ahead will be a healthy, low-carbon society, clean environment and efficient use of resources. If urban mobility and innovation are important and appealing to you, then the Smart Mobility Data Science and Analytics (SMDSA) master program at the Technical University of Eindhoven may well be what you are looking for.
