In this course, students will learn how to design and install the instruments and control systems that allow engineering systems to be monitored and controlled in a way that is safe, environmentally sound and cost-effective. Students will explore state-of-the-art technologies such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) that are used by industries; and focus on how these are used in mining, chemical and mineral processing industries and in other processing sectors. A final Honours year is embedded in this degree, allowing students to apply everything they learn in their first three years of study.
