PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROGRAMME IS ENTIRELY TAUGHT IN ITALIAN
This is Italy’s first master’s degree for communication assistants, essential figures in schools of any level in which there are deaf and/or hearing students who use Italian Sign Language as their main means of communication (e.g., students with non-verbal autism or non-verbal syndromes). The programme unites the study of the education sciences with linguistic studies, offering an innovative, active and participatory learning experience while building professional competencies that can flexibly adapt to a variety of needs in education and training. The degree is offered in collaboration by Ca’ Foscari University, Roma Tre University and the University of Palermo, which acts as the programme’s administrative hub. Thanks to this partnership, you benefit from the three institutions’ complementary areas of expertise in relation to deafness and Italian Sign Language. Due to the multi-institution collaboration, the programme employs a blended learning approach. Each student chooses a home university from among the three partners, where they will attend the courses offered by that institution in person while following those offered by the other two universities online.  To ensure that the learning experience always integrates the online and in-person student groups, there are classroom tutors who act as individual and group facilitators (e.g., by relaying questions from a course’s online students to those attending the class in person) and coordinate workshops and lab activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are so many, including top-notch teaching and research, eminently affordable tuition fees (see the relevant FAQ below for details), a markedly global and globally-minded attitude and being located in the incomparable city of Venice. Read all about them here: www.unive.it/10goodreasons. Being based in the historic centre of Venice, Ca’ Foscari offers the opportunity to study and carry out research in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. As you surely know, Venice is a very unique place. While it allows you to do the typical things you might expect – like wandering for hours and enjoying getting lost in its beauty – but it is also what you may not imagine: a place where student life spills into every public space and cultural engagement is around every corner. Venice also positions you at the heart of Europe, making it an easy and affordable jumping-off point for exploring the rest of Italy and beyond.
Ca’ Foscari is a public, federally subsidized institution that prioritizes internationalisation and assuring affordable access to university education for everyone, even students coming from abroad. Students from Italy or European Union/Schengen Area countries pay maximum tuition fees of around 2,400 euro per year for most bachelor’s degrees and around 2,600 euro per year for master’s degrees. Students from other parts of the world, depending on their nationality, pay less than this, sometimes as little as 700 euros per year. To learn about how much your tuition fees will be, explore Ca’ Foscari’s online application platform apply.unive.it. To make choosing Ca’ Foscari even more manageable for high-achieving international students, the university offers renewable merit-based scholarships dedicated to international bachelor’s and master’s students. There are also additional national scholarship programmes for master’s students. Read all about these opportunities here: https://www.unive.it/scholarships.
The city of Venice has been a cultural crossroads since the Middle Ages, bringing together peoples and cultures from around the globe, and this history has powerfully shaped Ca’ Foscari. In fact, the university has been exploring world cultures and languages for over 150 years (we currently teach more than 40 languages!), and it ranks among the top 100 universities in the world in Modern Languages. In addition, its markedly international student body and over 500 international exchange agreements guarantee that you are able to have a globally minded and multicultural experience both on campus and beyond!
At Ca’ Foscari we believe that a university education needs to be international. This is why we offer a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes completely taught in English, which are popular with both international students and Italian students interested in a markedly international classroom experience. At the same time, to make sure you take full advantage of everything Italy has to offer, English-taught programmes include an Italian course to get you started on learning the local language.
European and non-European students with an international qualification who wish to enrol in a bachelor's or master's degree programme at Ca' Foscari apply for admission via the online platform apply.unive.it. After uploading the required documentation and completing the procedure, additional information and the outcome of the application will be communicated via email.
