As you surely know, Venice is a very unique place. While it allows you to do the typical things you might expect – like wandering for hours and enjoying getting lost in its beauty – but it is also what you may not imagine: a place where student life spills into every public space and cultural engagement is around every corner. Venice also positions you at the heart of Europe, making it an easy and affordable jumping-off point for exploring the rest of Italy and beyond.
Why are international students’ tuition fees equal to – or, more often, less than – domestic tuition fees?
Ca’ Foscari is a public, federally subsidized institution that prioritizes internationalisation and assuring affordable access to university education for everyone, even students coming from abroad.
Students from Italy or European Union/Schengen Area countries pay maximum tuition fees of around 2,400 euro per year for most bachelor’s degrees and around 2,600 euro per year for master’s degrees.

Studying the humanities at Ca’ Foscari is a particularly rich experience that unfolds against the backdrop of a city whose tangible and intangible cultural heritage have made it a UNESCO heritage site. Whether you are interested in history or archaeology, classics or anthropology, philosophy or art history – almost all fields in which Ca’ Foscari is world-ranked – the university explores all of these and more. But at Ca’ Foscari the humanities are also infused with a sense of innovation, with various minors and study programmes exploring the humanities through different eyes and in new guises, especially the fields of the digital and public humanities and environmental humanities.
Do I need to know Italian to study at Ca’ Foscari or is knowing English enough?
At Ca’ Foscari we believe that a university education needs to be international.
