The Ph.D. in Bioengineering program is preparing future bioengineering leaders in academia, industry and government. This program has a proven track record of providing students with educational and research training and experiences that integrate the sciences of biology and medicine with the practices and principles of engineering. Students have the opportunity to work with graduate program faculty in technical research. Current key areas of research for the department include bioimaging at multi-scale; bio-micro and nanotechnology; synthetic bioengineering; mollecular, cellular and tissue engineering; computational and systems biology, and research in BME education.

You must have been awarded (or are about to be awarded) a four-year bachelor's degree equivalent to that granted by the University of Illinois to be eligible for graduate programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. If your undergraduate degree is a three-year program, you are not eligible for graduate-level admissions consideration at the University of Illinois.
