Studying history helps us understand how our past has shaped our present – the political and economic institutions, cultures, societies and ideas of our own country and others across the world. It's not just about learning what happened – but how and why it happened, and why history matters to us. Our students in the School of History take a variety of modules in British, European and world history from 1500 to the present day. We also offer modules in public history. Through workshops, lectures, seminars, one-to-one discussions with your tutor and visits to historical sites, you'll study a wide range of historical debates and sources.
