The BA (Hons) Creative Writing and Film Studies degree is designed at those who are interested in challenging art forms. This degree offers in-depth study of American, European and World cinema from both historical and theoretical perspectives as well as an introduction to the narrative techniques of all major forms of creative writing. As the degree progresses, students may specialise in screenwriting and will produce scripts for short films and longer dramas as well as learning to write treatments and pitch their ideas to a professional standard. History and practice of film criticism and interpretation will also be taught in this degree. Students may also undertake work-based learning as well as independent research in almost any area of Film Studies and in the final year, students may undertake an option in freelance writing and/or production.
