LMU's Civil Engineering program helps students understand how to plan, analyze, design, and oversee the construction of a wide variety of public and private engineering projects. Students learn how to apply scientific principles to evaluate the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of vital projects ranging from roads and highways to airports, mass transit systems to treatment plants, and drainage/flood control systems. Students in the undergraduate program take courses in structural, water resources, environmental, geotechnical, sustainability and general civil engineering, and they may focus in one or more of these tracks. Guided by world-class faculty members, who are also leaders in their professional fields, students make use of seven state-of-the-art laboratories for undergraduate research projects and coursework. Academic and co-curricular career preparation are supplemented by professional mentoring through the Civil Engineering Council for Industry Partnerships.
