The mission of the Department of
Mechanical Engineering stems from the mission of the Faculty of Engineering,
University of Tobruk, where it aims to educate and graduate engineers who hold
a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, provided that they have acquired
all the basic skills necessary in the disciplines of mechanical design,
production engineering and mechanical power engineering, to professionalize in
a technologically advanced environment and with international standards, and
qualify them to be fully aware of the ethics of the profession, and able to
carry out useful scientific research, and provide their service and expertise
to their profession and society. This mission is achieved through the
integration of the teaching and scientific research fields of the department's
faculty members.

prepare graduates to:

of mechanical science to produce sound and innovative solutions to engineering
problems, through detailed evaluation of available evidence, arguments and
assumptions.

Apply theoretical and practical techniques to
produce creative analyses of engineering solutions in both familiar, complex
and unpredictable professional environments.

Provide a high level of technical
leadership.

Use initiative, effective
communication and interpersonal skills.
