The bachelor's degree in Catalan Philology offers specialised training in Catalan language and literature, connected to its society, history and its relations with other cultures. In connection with disciplines such as the humanities and sciences and with the aid of new technologies, this bachelor's degree prepares you to become a professional in research, teaching, language assessment, publishing tasks, cultural management and writing, and many more other jobs in high demand. We encourage you to enrol in this bachelor's degree if you:

  • You are interested in languages and especially in the Catalan language and you want to know all the aspects it shares with other languages, what makes it unique, how it has evolved, what geographical and social variants it has, how it is used and what you can do to invigorate the language.
  • You like the Catalan culture and Catalan literature in particular and are interested in discovering its value within the international artistic and ideological movements, learn about its evolution, the trajectory of its authors, discover new interpretations of classic works, value theatrical representations and communicate your assessment.
  • You would like to acquire enhanced reading and critical skills and excellent oral and written skills. 
  • You want to enrol in a specialisation in Catalan Language and Linguistics or in Catalan Literature and European Traditions or in a minor and learn other languages.
  • You want to have direct contact with the labour market through two professional work placement modules.
