Public health is a multidisciplinary field that aims to improve the health of the population by preventing disease and promoting life quality, and it is an interdisciplinary research area that involves knowledge in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, nutrition, food safety, social medicine and management of health services. Public health is stressing on diminishing the health gaps and generating a sustainable output in healthcare globally. Although public health places greater priority on prevention, it also embraces curative, rehabilitative, and other aspects of clinical medicine and the study of basic sciences. The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programme aims to train health professionals with skills in leadership roles, including the use of sound methodological approaches and innovative thinking that can be translated into real-world applications with specific focus in the areas of population health, health systems, chronic diseases and recovery from emergencies with public health consequences.
