Overview
  • Explore the space where science and interactive entertainment meet with the game design major. Merge creativity, technology and strategic thinking to craft immersive gaming experiences. Explore the intricacies of game mechanics, storytelling, player engagement and learn to design compelling worlds that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • There is a growing demand for skilled game designers – throughout your studies you will gain an understanding of game design and production. You will have the opportunity to create games for different platforms, including digital games for consoles, PC, and table-top games.
  • Gain practical skills and master the industry standard software you need to thrive in your career. You will have hands-on experience with real-time game engines Unreal Engine and Unity and publish your very own game titles using cutting-edge technology such as motion capture, industry standard digital sculpting and animation software, and virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) systems.
  • Experience first-hand what it’s like to work in the game industry by collaborating with industry professionals, stakeholders and fellow students to conceptualise, prototype and refine your games.
  • Customise your degree by combining the game design major with a digital design minor such as animation, graphic design or interaction design, or select another study option outside the School of Creative Arts. Become uniquely qualified by combining your games design major with a software application development major to specialise in programing for games.
