The School of Design and Construction offers the NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture degree (M.Arch) on a one-, two-, or three-year time frame. Once completed, this degree allows graduates to participate in an architectural internship through the Intern Development Program (IDP) and eventually qualify for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). In the M.Arch program students explore topics germane to the critical issues facing the profession of architecture today. Depending on educational background and our evaluation of application materials, students wishing to earn the professional M.Arch degree will be admitted as follows: 1-year - For students with a four-year, pre-professional undergraduate degree in architecture or a professional B.Arch degree, who have submitted application materials demonstrating a high level of design proficiency. 2-year - For students with an existing undergraduate degree in architecture, or for those with a degree in an allied design discipline, who have submitted application materials demonstrating the need for additional design experience. 3-year - For students with a non-architecture undergraduate degree, or for those with a degree in an allied design discipline, who have submitted application materials demonstrating the need for additional design experience beyond a two-year timeframe. Our Master of Architecture students engage in design and scholarship that offer new insights into the role of architecture in our culture, civilization, and environment. Within this context our students challenge existing conventions and offer innovative approaches to many of the issues of today. A range of lectures and gallery shows, and off-campus experiences such as study tours, internships, studios, and project reviews provide opportunities for educational and professional engagement on the local, regional, national, and international levels.
