The Second Cycle Degree course for the history and critic of the arts and theatre is founded upon a consolidated tradition of study and research based upon transcending the hierarches and disciplinary divisions. The disciplinary sectors that constitute the central core of the course are in fact those concerning history and art, and the articulation of the lessons is defined in a manner so as to convey the complexity of the expressive forms ranging from the visual arts to the disciplines of performing arts and cinema and from medieval to contemporary times. The course is designed to train historians of the arts providing knowledge at a specialist level in medieval, modern and contemporary histories of art, iconography and iconology, within art criticism and museum studies, stimulating a critical approach via the acquisition of a strong methodology of historical research, while reserving space for disciplines such as Aesthetics, The History of Architecture and Informational Sciences and documentation.
