A degree course designed along with companies in the field of biotechnology, in order to give you all the theoretical and practical bases of a modern and dynamic topic, ranging between biology and chemistry, economics and statistics. A multidisciplinary approach that will allow you to customize your study plan, and to choose the application field in which you want to specialize: plant biology, industry, healthcare, veterinary.

The practical experiences in the laboratories as well as the 350-hour traineeship (which you can also carry out at companies and other Institutions, or even abroad) will allow you to obtain professional and technical skills useful in both the job market and in academia.
The Bachelor Course in Biotechnology has been active since the academic year 1999/2000. The Course is organized over 3 years to obtain 180 final credits necessary for graduation.

The graduate in Biotechnology of the University of Parma will possess basic knowledge of biological systems, with particular focus on the molecular and cellular organization; the graduate will possess the cultural and experimental bases of the multidisciplinary techniques characterizing biotechnological operations for the production of goods and services through the analysis and use of biological systems; the graduate will acquire disciplinary methodologies and will be able to apply them in concrete situations with appropriate knowledge of the norms and of ethical and bioethical problems; the graduate will know how to use effectively at least one European Union language in both written and oral form, in addition to Italian; the graduate will possess adequate skills and tools for communication and information management; the graduate will be able to draw up technical-scientific reports, as well as being able to work in a group and to operate autonomously to fit in promptly in the workplace.

Admission Requirements

The enrolment is: Access in chronological order of enrolment with merit enhancement through the diploma grade (110 places of which 2 are reserved to non EU student and 1 to the Marco Polo project).
