​​​​​In response to the recent advances in pharmacy education, pharmaceutical care and the establishment of clinical pharmacy practice at JUST, Clinical Pharmacy Department was separated from the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology in the year 2000 to become an independent department that oversees two new programs at the Faculty of Pharmacy, namely:

Master's program In Clinical Pharmacy

This program is offered for Pharmacy bachelor and PharmD degree holders, who wish to expand their experience in Clinical Pharmacy. It involves both theoretical course work and practical training at King Abdulla University Hospital (KAUH) and other local hospitals in Jordan.

Pharmacy Doctor (PharmD) program

The PharmD is a professional degree granted by the Faculty of Pharmacy. The PharmD is similar to the Bachelor degree in Pharmacy in the fact that it is a first degree. The PharmD program is patient-oriented, with emphasis on pharmaceutical care. This program, which started in 2001, is a unique program not only in Jordan, but also in the Arab region. It was designed to meet the accelerating need for such specialty in Jordan and the neighboring countries. 

The Department is also responsible for supervising clinical clerkships and the training of pharmacy students (Master's in Clinical Pharmacy, and PharmD students) in the hospital and community pharmacies.

Drug Information office (DIO)

The DIO was established in the Faculty of Pharmacy as part of the Clinical Pharmacy Department in 2013. This office has a computer center connected to the internet, and also has the essential references for quick search of drug-related information, in the latest editions of BNF, USP, PDR, etc. The office was set up to provide counseling services for health care professionals at JUST, as well as the local community. In addition to counseling services, the DIO issues a monthly edition of Drug Information Bulletin (DIB), which contains the latest information related to drugs and their clinical use. In addition, the DIO holds different related workshops and publishes scientific articles on the page of DIO on Facebook to provide customers with educational information about diseases and how to deal with drugs. ​

Patients Counseling Office (PCO)

The Patient Counseling Office (PCO)  is considered the first office of its kind in all hospitals and health care facilities in Jordan. This office provide training for  pharmD students  and medical information for patients​. The PCO was officially established in the start of November 2016r. It is considered an essential part of clinical pharmacy department at KAUH, where qualified clinical pharmacists provide patient counseling and training to Pharmacy Doctor Students of Pharmacy College at Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The ​Patient Counseling Office basically aims to increase awareness for patients who attend out-patient clinics at KAUH, and to provide full verbal and written pharmaceutical information regarding their medications and medical conditions. Clinical pharmacists check prescriptions and make sure that all dispensed medications, regimens, and dosage forms are compatible with the patient's medical condition. PCO also investigates drug related problems and dispensing errors, and attempts to provide clinical recommendations to physicians and out-patient pharmacy in order to correct them.​

JUST Simulation pharmacy

Just simulation pharmacy was established in 200​7 by a grant from pharmacy 1 company, and started as drug information site to educate pharmacy student how to get reliable information from trusted references, then it was utilized as a training site for counseling and community  pharmacy training, and now it is a site for training pharmacy D students research rotation.

The pharmacy is fully equipped with computers and internet connection in addition to the softwares needed for research purposes.

Collaborations and Future Directions

The Clinical Pharmacy Department has signed agreements with the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa, University of Houston, and University of North Carolina for exchange of students and faculty members. The department is in the process of establishing agreements with other international universities, hospitals and drug centers.​
