The MA Educational Leadership in-service route is for those who already have leadership experience and are looking to build on this experience through academic study. Your experience can include a range of settings and can be in middle or senior roles. The programme will enable you to reflect on relevant and contemporary theory and evidence and to relate this to your own practice, helping you to become an effective leader of learning and change.

You will explore and critique educational leadership and management theory, research and practice and be encouraged to identify and extend your personal leadership capabilities in the education sector.  There is also a close focus on how you can improve the quality of learning and teaching for the student body you will be serving as an educational leader.

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.

There are two compulsory modules (60 credits), two optional modules (60 credits), and a dissertation (60 credits). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for this route for completion of NPQH and/or NPQEL within five years of starting the programme. Typically, 30 credits are permitted and in exceptional circumstances 60 credits.
