This MSc teaches the underlying concepts of Medical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and how these technologies can be deployed into surgical environments and improve healthcare.

Students will cover key topics such as data processing and data analysis using modern methods that rely on Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI); surgical data acquisition, including an understanding of the devices used to capture surgical data (e.g. trackers, robots, imaging devices); robot kinematics, motion planning, control and navigation.

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.

The MSc consists of four compulsory modules (60 credits), four optional modules (60 credits), and a research project with a dissertation (60 credits).

A minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and related fields is required. Undergraduate level knowledge in programming languages (such as Python or C++) is essential, and we expect this to be evidenced on your transcript. Knowledge of mathematical methods and introductory probability and statistics is also required. Applicants must show an interest in developing thinking and problem-solving skills.
