Control Engineering is a multidisciplinary subject, with applications across a wide range of industrial sectors. This course aims to provide an advanced education in control and systems engineering, emphasising modern theoretical developments and their practical applicationgive a sound fundamental understanding of the principles underlying the application of control systems. Students will learn about applying modern control principles in various areas of industry as well as acquiring a range of intellectual skills that cover the design, analysis and simulation of control systems. This course emphasizes on practical and transferable skills through laboratory exercises and the use of software packages. Students are required to take seven examinations. In addition, course work (eg lab reports) accounts for typically 20% of the mark for each course unit. One course units is assessed on the basis of coursework only. The enhanced research project is assessed on the basis of a research poster, an extended abstract, a research papers and a dissertation of about 70 pages.
