This exciting and diverse degree allows you to explore the full range of literature in English while studying theatre in workshop conditions. You’ll have the chance to study poetry, prose and drama across cultures and historical periods, as well as combining practical exploration and critical understanding of theatre. You’ll build your knowledge base and gain the skills you need to succeed in core modules, where you’ll study poetry, prose and drama in their historical, social and political contexts and consider the role theatre can play in society. From there you can also specialise in topics that interest you, when you choose from an impressive variety of optional modules. You could study Shakespeare and Sheridan alongside surrealism in French theatre and contemporary theatre practice, or you could study literature from Old English to contemporary and postcolonial narratives. You’ll explore some of humanity’s most powerful forms of cultural expression.
