The Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). Biomedical science is the term for the investigations carried out by biomedical scientists, usually working in the NHS, on samples of tissue and body fluids to diagnose disease and monitor the treatment of patients. This programme will usually take three years with an opportunity to spend an additional year (usually between years 2 and 3) either in industry or in a NHS laboratory. Students will study a range of topics including anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology and the basic analytical skills of modern biomedical science.
