Graphic Design (Illustration) at De Montfort University covers a variety of image-making techniques, including drawing, printmaking, animation, visual problem solving and digitally produced imagery, giving you the opportunity to go into a wide range of careers in animation, illustration and graphic design. The course will develop you into a creative designer, building up a portfolio of knowledge and skills in visual communication within printmaking, photography, typography, illustration, animation and creative writing. You will have the opportunity to undertake live design briefs from industry and participate in national and international competitions such as the International Society of Typographic Designers and the Starpack Awards. The experience you gain on the course will allow you to develop to become a successful illustrator in a rapidly-­changing commercial environment. 95 per cent of graduates from this course are in full-time employment or further education within six months of completing their course (DLHE 2015/16).
