The Master of Science in Mathematical Science provides a broad base in applied and industrial mathematics. Research interests of the faculty include applied analysis, differential equations, methods of mathematical physics, nonlinear waves, probability and mathematical statistics, functional analysis, numerical analysis, approximation theory, nonlinear dynamics, fluid mechanics, wave propagation, algebra, number theory, combinatory and graph theory, inverse problems, special functions and orthogonal polynomials, financial mathematics, and medical imaging. The Industrial Mathematics track in the Mathematical Science MS program prepares graduate students to pursue careers in industry by providing them with high quality professional training in branches of mathematics valuable to high-technology industries. This track has three components: training in the necessary mathematics to pursue a career in industrial mathematics, professional training to prepare for the environment of the industrial workplace, and a required experiential component.

Students must have a Bachelor (Honours) consisting of four or more years of full-time study, or a Bachelor degree following a National Certificate or National Diploma. International students also have the following other English language requirements: a minimum 220 on TOEFL (computer-based).
