This program is the only sport business management program emphasizing diversity, moral, ethical, and social issues in sports, as well as focusing on sports leadership while giving the students a rigorous business education. The DeVos Sport Business Management Program is ranked as one of the top five programs in America by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and ESPN the Magazine. Students are required to perform 42 hours of service per semester for a Central Florida organization that works with underserved youth. Students will also spend a minimum of two weeks helping to rebuild homes in post-Katrina New Orleans. A major emphasis of the DeVos Program is to have our students leave understanding the power of sport to build communities. Students in the DeVos Sport Business Management master?s program gain hands-on experience in the business of sports management, work in teams with fellow students on sports business projects from conception through implementation, and develop a network in the sports industry. Our comprehensive curriculum provides a unique, team-based, integrative business approach and a global sports network in a hands-on environment. The DeVos program offers students the opportunity to earn their Master?s in Sports Business Management (MSBM) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Focusing on ethics, diversity, leadership and community service, the DeVos Program attracts the brightest and most committed students from across the country and across the globe. We admit students based on their total package of academic success, professional and community service experience, commitment to teamwork, and other factors that show the admissions committee whether the applicant is a good fit for the DeVos Program. The endowment for the program was a $2.5 million gift made by Mr. & Mrs. DeVos, which was matched by the State of Florida. The endowment, in addition to the donated scholarships, allows the program to have either scholarships or graduate assistant positions available for all students. The DeVos Program is an integrative ?living classroom? with a rigorous and comprehensive academic schedule that keeps the cohort of students together throughout their two year coursework. The core curriculum of the DeVos Sport Business Management Program incorporates UCF College of Business Administration core classes, unique sport business classes and other specialized classes that emphasize the social impact of sport. Students are given interactive real world projects and programs that allow them to work along side world-class sport business leaders, while building a network of contacts that help create rewarding post-graduation opportunities. Additionally, graduates will discover the role of sport in society, how the power of sport can help create a more inclusive society and how the responsibility of the power of sport should be used to make a difference.
