Does Socialised Real-Life Body Exposure Promote Body Image Positivity PhD

An important aspect of the research will include delving into involvement in these activities and lifestyles across gender and cultural differences, to identify and understand barriers that might prevent uptake in activities that could be protective against negative body image and promote positive body image.

Methods will involve both quantitative (e.g. questionnaires) and qualitative (e.g. interviews) approaches to gain insight to the influence of overlapping lifestyle and activity choices on body image and general wellbeing and to determine whether different elements are independent or additive.

The primary benefit of this research will be to raise awareness of positive health and wellbeing choices that are low cost, drug free and accessible to all, as well as helping to change attitudes towards certain activities in multiple stakeholders, including policy makers and different communities.

Through our Doctoral College there are continual opportunities for building important research skills and networks among your peers, research academics and non-academic partners. The research training provided will be tailored to the applicant's needs and the doctoral researcher will also benefit from support from others research hubs, for example through engagement with the Lifestyle for Health and Wellbeing Theme, among others.
