In this program students must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to take Honors courses and remain in the Honors Program. All Honors Program students will be reviewed yearly. Any Honors students falling below a 3.00 GPA at the end of any year of study will be contacted and removed from the Honors Program. They are also required to complete the requirement for bachelor of arts with major in History, History Education or History/Foreign Language. History illuminates the human condition. It provides the context for defining one’s place in the world and gives meaning to our endeavors against the background of our heritage. Without a historical perspective, we have little understanding of the past that has shaped us or the future that lies ahead. Career paths: Having learned key skills in analytical thinking, critical reading and expository writing, our graduates enter a wide range of careers. Many history students seek employment in business, journalism, media, publishing, teaching, government, and public service. Many majors go on to law school or to advanced study in business, government, and public administration. The strength of Delaware’s program in museum studies and the quality of museum resources available to Delaware students encourage many graduates to pursue advanced study or careers in that area.
