In this program students must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to take Honors courses and remain in the Honors Program. All Honors Program students will be reviewed yearly. Any Honors students falling below a 3.00 GPA at the end of any year of study will be contacted and removed from the Honors Program. They are also required to complete the requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree. The Elementary Teacher Education program is nationally accredited and prepares outstanding elementary, middle school and special education teachers to meet the challenges of educating today’s diverse student population. Elementary Teacher Education (ETE) students can become eligible for teacher certification in elementary education and in the area of their concentration. They choose a concentration in one of the following areas: English as a Second Language, middle school mathematics, middle school English, middle school science, middle school social studies, or special education. Having a second teaching certificate makes our graduates very marketable and provides them with additional expertise for the elementary classroom. Graduates of our ETE program are eligible for teacher certification in Delaware and other states through reciprocity agreements after completing our state-approved program.
