In this program students must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to take Honors courses and remain in the Honors Program. All Honors Program students will be reviewed yearly. Any Honors students falling below a 3.00 GPA at the end of any year of study will be contacted and removed from the Honors Program. They are also required to complete the requirement for bachelor's degree. Sociology is the study of society and the social sources of human behaviors among groups and individuals. One element involves understanding and addressing social issues, such as family life, crime, education, war and peace, homelessness, poverty, immigration, and substance abuse. Another element involves studying the structure of societies, groups, organizations, and social institutions and how people interact in these settings. Sociology teaches a distinctive way of looking at the social world and offers unique insights into social behavior through research and other opportunities.
